At Konsman Vegetables in Monster, we have started the installation of over 3,000 SimpleFold insect netting systems. Konsman Vegetables specializes in the year-round cultivation of various types of lettuce and pak choi.

Due to the decreasing availability of effective systemic agents for these crops, the lack of alternatives, and the focus on sustainability, Robbin Konsman chose to equip the ventilation windows at the cultivation site in Monster with insect netting.

The somewhat older Venlo greenhouses are not prepared for the load of mesh cassettes in terms of their ventilation mechanics. As a result, the SimpleFold System was chosen, which has only a quarter of the weight increase compared to mesh cassettes.

When open, the mesh is held taut and guided inwards when closing. When the ventilation windows are closed, the mesh lies completely inside with minimal light loss compared to systems that completely seal the window opening. An additional advantage is that this system results in less ventilation reduction. Last year, much was published about aphids in lettuce cultivation. Consumers were supposed to get used to this. Robbin Konsman thinks differently and wants to stay ahead. Thanks to the support of the SimpleFold insect netting system, he keeps all harmful insects out of the greenhouse.
